Accidents happen, we all know this. One of the most tragic accidents that can happen to your building or home is a fire. It’s important to be prepared for every possible worst-case scenario, which is why we waterproof, have flood insurance, and use fireproof coating.
What Are Fireproof Coatings?
Fireproof coatings are paints that are heat resistant, typically up to 2000 degrees Fahrenheit. These coatings are safe, non-toxic, environmentally-friendly, and can be easily applied to almost any building. Some materials fireproof coating can be applied to include: concrete, sheet metal, foam, wood, sheetrock.
Fireproof coatings simply protect the material they’re applied to by preventing the fire from reaching the material under the coating. Most coatings can protect material for up to two hours of direct heat exposure. This is usually enough time to allow professionals to put out the fire.
While fireproof coating can’t prevent a fire from occurring, it can protect your building from the damages of the heat associated with the fire. It’s important to have professionals apply fireproof coating, as there are a wide variety of types suitable for every material in your building
